How to Print Business Cards Using Windows XP

Most people have their business cards printed for them at a print shop or order them online. However, this task can easily be done on a PC or a laptop with Microsoft Word, blank business cards and a printer.
There are great advantages to printing business cards from a PC or a laptop. Doing so can help save money on printing and design fees, permit customization, and offer convenience. Being able to print business cards anytime, without waiting for the print shop or a shipment from an online order, can be a great advantage if the business cards are needed right away.

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft Word Blank business cards Laser or ink-jet printer
  1. Step 1

    Click the "Start" menu button that is located in the bottom left corner of the main Windows screen. The start menu will then open. Left click on "All Programs" and locate Microsoft Word. Left click on Microsoft Word. A blank document will appear.

  2. Step 2

    Move the cursor to the top of the screen and click "Tools" once the blank document appears. Once the menu is open, move the cursor down to "Letters and Mailings." On that menu, select "Envelopes and Labels."

  3. Step 3

    Locate the button on the bottom right that is labeled "Options" in the "Envelopes and Labels" window, and left click on it. Under the title "Label Information" are the sections "Label Products" and "Product Number." Look at the front cover of the business cards that were purchased and locate the brand name and the product number.

  4. Step 4

    Select the brand of business cards that are going to be used from the "Label Products" menu. Under the "Product Number" section is a small window that shows the business card products that are made by the brand that was selected. Select the number that is on the cover of the business cards. After the correct brand and product number are selected, click the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Options" window.

  5. Step 5

    Type the information that is going to be displayed on the business card in the Address" section when the "Envelope and Labels" window appears again. Insert a sheet of the blank business cards into the printer and click the "Print" button.

Tips & Warnings
  • When purchasing blank business cards, be sure to select the right type of card. Cards can have a matte or glossy finish as well clean or perforated edges. To insert a picture or logo on the business card: In Step 5, after typing the information in the address section, click on "New Document" instead of print. A new document will open with a full page repeating the information that was typed in the address section. Simply click on the spot where the picture or logo is to be displayed, click the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen, and then click on "From File" to find the picture you want. Click "Insert". Click on the picture once it appears in the first rectangle of the document, copy it, and paste it onto the rest of the cards in the document.
