How to Make Personalized Labels for Candy Bars

Personalized labels on candy bars are a popular party favor at weddings and birthday parties. Generally, companies will perform this service for you for a set fee, if you order enough. Nowadays, with the ease of desktop publishing, you can simply design your own, print them on your personal printer and affix them to the candy bar. The price will be much lower, you can make as few or as many as you like, and the design will be your creation.

Instructions

1. Measure the width around the candy bar with a cloth measuring tape or use a piece of paper, wrap it around the candy bar, mark it and then measure it with a ruler. Add 1/2 inch for the overlap area for gluing. Now measure the length of the candy bar and subtract 1/2 inch so there is 1/4 inch less on either end.

2. Open Microsoft Word on your computer and open a blank document. Under File, choose Page Setup, then Custom and insert the measurements you just took. This will be the size of your wrapper. Choose the Portrait Orientation. Under Margins, change all four edges to 0.5 inches. Hit OK.

3. Type in the words you would like, such as, "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations!" in large print. Variations in the font style and size can be made under Format, then Font. Place the message about one-third of the way down the page.

4. Insert a picture or clip art from the Insert menu. Right-click the picture and choose Format and then Layout. Pick the option to have it in front of the text. This will allow you to move it around the label freely.

5. Create fun designs or borders to the label as you like. When you are pleased with the outcome, hit Save and put it in a place in your computer files where you can access it later. Now choose File from the task bar and then Print.

6. Remove the original candy bar wrapper by carefully either tearing it off, or slicing it open with a letter opener or sharp utility knife. You don't want to cut into the foil wrapper, so do it by cutting up and away from the candy bar, not toward it.

7. Take your printed label out of the printer and cut it out with a paper cutter or scissors if you have a steady hand. Wrap the label around the candy bar and glue the ends together with any paper glue. If you are pleased with the results, print more and wrap the rest of your candy bars.
