      Organize your information. A PowerPoint presentation is made up of a series of slides. These slides are where your information is going to go, and it would helpful to have them in order. Put your information in order of topic or chronological order, to give yourself and your audience a time line to follow. Keep each slide limited to short digestible bites of information.

      Insert any video or audio files you feel would improve your presentation. To do this click on the "Insert" tab, select "Movies and Sounds," and select either "Movie from File" or "Sound from File" depending on the file you wish to add.

      Familiarize yourself with the toolbar. Towards the top of the main PowerPoint window is a toolbar containing a series of icons. These icons will allow you to add objects to your slides. You can add more text boxes, charts, graphs and pictures.

      Play the finished slide show to ensure that everything is formatted the way you intended. You can do this by either pressing the 'F5' key or by selecting "Slideshow" from the "View" menu at the top of the screen. Make any necessary adjustments, and be sure to save your file so you don't lose any progress.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that the more pictures, videos, and sound files you add to your presentation the larger the file size will be.
