Use an acne treatment system. Spend time twice each day completing a three-step system, consider the Proactiv or Murad Acne fighting systems or their generics. These systems cleanse your skin and then bring them back into balance with toner and lotion. These systems are effective for most people, but can be very costly. Their generic cousins found in most drugstores, are generally a third of the cost of the name brands. Walgreens generic version of Proactiv is of good quality. You may find that your skin still craves a moisturizer in addition to their three-step systems.

Change your diet. Eliminate sugar and soda; even diet soda. Sugar and the carbonation in soda are very acidic and cause stresses to your skin. Other foods that may cause skin problems include wheat, chocolate, dairy, corn and soy. Experiment with eliminating them. Add some skin-friendly foods and beverages to your diet. Fruits, veggies, fish, fruit smoothies and lots of water will benefit your skin.

Exercise regularly. Sweating eliminates toxins in your skin, and cardiovascular activity oxygenates all your tissues.
