How to Use Hot Rollers in Short Hair

Adding volume to your short hair can give you more options when you style your hair. One way to give your hair some additional volume is to use hot rollers. When you use hot rollers correctly, your short hair could retain the curls for 24-48 hours. This makes hot rollers very useful if you want to set your hair for work, church or any other event taking place the next morning. Here is how to use hot rollers in short hair.

Things You'll Need:

  • Hot rollers with clips Light styling foam Brush Tail comb Light hair spray
  1. Step 1

    Begin by dampening your hair. Your hair shouldn't be dripping wet, just slightly wet.

  2. Step 2

    Heat up the hot rollers.

  3. Step 3

    Pump the foam twice onto the palm of your hand.

  4. Step 4

    Rub both hands together lightly so that you can evenly distribute the foam throughout your hair.

  5. Step 5

    Comb your fingers throughout your hair. While doing this, you should close your hands from time to time in order to "scrunch" the product onto your hair.

    Brush through your hair once to distribute the product.

  7. Step 7

    Allow your hair to air dry for about 10 minutes.

  8. Step 8

    Use your tail comb to separate a 1/2-inch to 1-inch section in the front and center of your hair.

  9. Step 9

    Comb the section smooth with your tail comb.

  10. Step 10

    Roll a small hot roller from your tips to your scalp and clamp the clip over the roller.

    Continue this technique down the center of your head and then move to the sides.

    Set the rollers on your head for an additional 15 minutes after you have placed them around your head.

    Remove the clips from each roller.

    Comb your fingers through your lightly to loosen the style.

    Use your brush and the hairspray to shape the final look.
