- Phone card or international long-distance service

Step 1
Obtain an international calling card to make international phone calls from your phone if you do not have international long-distance service on the telephone you will be calling from.

Dial the toll-free number of the calling card. Enter your international calling card number printed on the card you purchased. If you have international long-distance service through your telephone provider, you can skip this step.

Step 3
Dial 011, which is the international access code.

Step 4
Type in 52, which is the country code for Mexico.

Step 5
Push 1, which notifies the Mexican phone companies that you are calling a cellular phone number.

Step 6
Punch in the city code of the city you are dialing in Mexico and the seven-digit cellular phone number you are calling. A list of city codes in Mexico is provided in a link in the Resources section. Wait for the phone to ring.
