How to Use IrfanView
IrfanView is a small, fast freeware graphics viewer/editor for Windows 95 and above. The current version is 4.23. Many file formats are supported and are listed in the program's help file under Overview/Supported File Formats. IrfanView and its plug-ins can be downloaded at http://www.irfanview.com. The program is a 1.3 Mb download, and the plug-in file is 7.1 Mb.
Things You'll Need
- IrfanView program with all plug-ins installed. At least one file in any of the supported formats.

Open a File, Paint on the Image, Save Changes

Choose "File/Open" and select the file you want to load. A thumbnail will be shown if Preview is active, as well as height, width, number of colors and file size.

Press "Ctrl-S" to save a file in the original location. To save in a different location or format, press "S". A dialog box opens.
Resizing and Resampling

Press "Ctrl-R" to open a dialog box. Select the new dimensions.

In this same dialog box, you can also select a new screen resolution.

For either dimensions or resolution, you may specify it in centimeters, inches or pixels.
Slide Shows and Multipage Files

To start or stop a slide show of all documents in a directory, press "Shift-A."

To work with multipage files, select "View/Multipage Images."

Press "Ctrl-PageDown" to see the next page of a document.

Tips & Warnings
Unlike previous versions, in version 4.23 of IrfanView, you must exit the program to close a file.
