How to Uninstall Windows Live Messenger

Having many Instant Messenger freeware or programs such as AOL Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger installed on your computer might make it quite difficult for you to manage or consolidate your friends, acquaintances and contacts. Alternately, if Windows Live Messenger is giving you some problems, then it makes sense to uninstall Windows Live Messenger from your computer. Uninstalling Windows Live Messenger involves a few, simple steps.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click the "Start Menu" button located on the left bottom of the task bar of your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Scroll to "Control Panel" and click on it.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Uninstall a Program" link under Programs from the list of control menus or features displayed on the Control Panel window.

  4. Step 4

    Scroll down to "Windows Live Messenger" from the list of programs which open ups. Select it. Right-click on "Windows Live Messenger." Click "Uninstall" from the list of options "Uninstall, Change or Repair" displayed on the pop-out window.

  5. Step 5

    Click "Yes" once you are prompted with the command "Are you sure you want to uninstall Windows Live Messenger?" Wait. A window opens up and a number of operations keep running with a popout displaying the "Windows is gathering information" message. Say yes to all operations, if asked. Uninstalling Windows Live Messenger will take a few minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Restart the computer just to ensure that the operation has been conducted successfully.
