People go missing every day all over the world. It is crucial to get the word out as quick as possible when this occurs. Creating a missing persons poster is a good way to accomplish this. Making the poster will require a few items. The most important one is at least one recent picture of the person missing. A missing person poster can be created in any type of application that does word processing or desktop publishing. Microsoft Publisher, Word or similar programs can be used.

1. Gather all of your pictures for easy access. Scan the pictures and save each in a useable format, if you do not have a copy on your computer already. Include pictures of any distinguishing marks (birthmarks, scars, tattoos), clothing worn, vehicles involved or anything else relating to the missing person. Resize the pictures and make any other edits needed. Save the pictures on your desktop or create a folder.

2. Make note of other pertinent information. Verify any phone numbers of local or federal authorities, organizations involved and all web addresses included on the missing person poster. Confirm any vehicle details including the year, make, model, color, license plate number and other data about it or other things involved (last place seen, who they were with and so on).

3. Open a blank page in the application being used. Insert the pictures on the missing person poster. Use the "Insert Picture" icon in the program. If this is not offered, click on "Insert" on the menu bar. Click on "Picture" and then "From File..." Locate the pictures and click on the "Insert" button. Move the pictures around to find the best locations. Resize again, if desired.

4. Add all of the critical information to your missing persons poster. Use either "WordArt" or the text tool to add words. Select large, easy-to-read font sizes and styles for all text. Include all of the necessary details, and double-check all data for errors.

5. Save a copy of the missing person poster. You can print copies of it or send it out through email. It will be readily available for future edits and use.

• If the missing person wears glasses, be sure to include pictures with and without the glasses. Do this for men with facial hair as well. If you have available pictures to draw on, utilize as many as possible into the missing person poster.
