Things You'll Need:
- 3 oz. fresh ginger root Saucepan or tea kettle Tea ball Coffee mug Honey or sugar to sweeten Lemon wedge (optional)
-
Step 1
Wash the ginger root well with warm water. Peel, and slice into several thin, small strips. Bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan or tea kettle.
-
Step 2
Place the sliced ginger root into a tea ball and attach to a coffee mug. If a tea ball is not available, you may place the ginger root directly into the mug. However, it must be strained before consuming.
-
Step 3
Pour the boiling water into the mug and allow the ginger to steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Do not leave the root in the water longer than 20 minutes, or you'll be left with a bitter tasting tea. If you like the tea stronger, add more ginger root rather than steeping longer.
-
Step 4
Remove the tea ball from the coffee mug, or strain the tea into a clean coffee mug. Add 1 tsp. of honey or sugar to sweeten. Add more or less to suit your tastes.
-
Step 5
Stir well to combine. Garnish with a lemon wedge, if desired. Serve hot, or allow the ginger tea to cool to room temperature.
