Draw a Pink Rose

Drawing flowers isn't as easy as you might think. A simple, little cartoon daisy might be no problem, but a rose is a bit more intricate and it forces you to study it just a little bit longer before attempting to commit the image to paper. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to draw a pink rose.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by lightly sketching a circle--just a round circle in the middle of your paper. This will end up being the outer edge of the rose.

    • 2

Draw several smaller half-circles of different proportions, moving along the edge of your circle. These will be the largest petals that make up the outer layer of your rose. Make sure that they're not all the exact same size.

    • 3

Move into the middle of your first circle and draw a tiny circle. This will be the center of your rose. All of the other petals will spread out from around this point. If you're coloring your rose, this middle circle will be darker than all of the other layers. It's best to use a red crayon, colored pencil, or maker for this.

    • 4

Draw four, tulip-shaped petals that completely surround the middle circle. This will be the rose's first inner layer of petals. You're going to steadily draw outward from there.

    • 5

Fill in the space between the inner layer of petals, and the outer layer of petals, with petals of different shapes and sizes, steadily growing larger as you get closer to the outer edge. The only rule here should be, as you draw outward, make the petals larger.

    • 6

Color the petals in using either a colored pencil, or marker. Start with a light shade of red in the very center of the rose, and steadily lighten up to a pink pencil, or marker. The last two layers of petals should be all pink, with no red at all.
