How to Make Fabric Bookmarks
If you have some extra fabric around the house that is too pretty to toss, you can easily make no sew fabric bookmarks. Bookmarks are convenient to use when reading a book, and some people even give them as gifts. You can even use clothes that are too old or worn to wear, but you don't want to toss them because they mean something to you. Or if you are in the fabric store and see something you want to use for a bookmark, you can buy a small piece of it, and turn it into several bookmarks.

Cut the interfacing to the exact size and shape of the fabric. Lay the interfacing on the ironing board. Place the fabric for the bookmark on the ironing board, and put one of the pieces on the ironing board with the right side down. Place the interfacing on top of the fabric, making sure that the interfacing fits exactly on top of the bookmark. Put the other piece of fabric precisely on top of the interfacing.

Once the iron is hot, lay it gently on top of the bookmark for a few seconds. This should be enough time to melt the interfacing. Once the fabrics are melded together, you can apply a little more pressure with the iron to make sure that the interfacing has completely joined the bookmark pieces.

Tips & Warnings
You can sew buttons on the bookmark to decorate it if you like, or add tassles to it. Some people add a piece of decorative trim, too. You can simply hand sew the tassles or trim to the bookmark. Once fused together, you can cut the bookmarks into any shape you want.
Make sure that the fabric you're using won't melt under the heat of the iron. If the fabric can't handle a hot iron, choose another kind that will. If you use fabrics that lose their texture under heat, like seersucker, you may want to simply sew the bookmark instead of fusing it with an iron. It is so important to make sure that no interfacing is in direct contact with the iron. The interfacing will melt on the iron's plate, and make a big mess that takes time to clean.
