How to Brew Essiac Tea
Essiac tea is an herbal supplement that has many beneficial effects for the body. It boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body. Essiac tea is used to improve many health problems and is also useful for improving general health. Brewing essiac tea at home is better for many reasons. Not only is it more inexpensive, but the resulting tea is more effective. Brewing essiac tea is easily done with powdered herbs.
The best way to begin brewing essiac tea at home is to purchase a blend of the eight herbs used for making essiac tea instead of trying to make a blend from scratch. The ratio of the herbs is important and home mixing may not produce the proper blend.

- 44 ounces spring or distilled water 1.33 oz. essiac herbs blend Kitchen scale Large pot

Brew a two-week supply of essiac tea. Bring the water to a rapid boil in the large pot. Carefully add the essiac herbs. It is better to actually weigh out the portion of herbs with a kitchen scale instead of estimating or using a dry measuring cup. If a kitchen scale is not available, a rough estimate is 1/4 cup of essiac herbs.

Reduce the heat to medium and allow to simmer 10 minutes. Stir often. Cover the pan with the lid slightly ajar to allow a small amount of air inside without too much evaporation occurring. After 10 minutes, turn the heat off and cover the pan completely. Leave the tea at room temperature for 12 hours or overnight.

After the tea has set, stir vigorously to incorporate the herbs throughout the liquid. Funnel the tea into a clean gallon container and refrigerate. Essiac tea will keep for approximately two weeks in the refrigerator.

Tips & Warnings
For best results, leave the herbs in the tea and do not strain. The essiac herbs make the tea more potent and effective. Do not keep the tea for more than two weeks. Shake the tea well before serving. Usually essiac tea is consumed cold straight out of the refrigerator. Mix the tea with fruit or vegetable juice to make it more palatable if necessary. For best results, drink essiac tea on an empty stomach.
