If using denim jeans, begin by cutting in a curved line while making sure to stay below the pockets. Be sure to remove the base stitch just inside the crotch area. If using purchased fabric, this step is already complete.
-
2
Turn the jean silhouette inside out. The method used for holding the fabric together for stitching is a matter of personal preference. Either glue the seams together with a generous amount of washable, clear fabric glue, or use safety pins.

3
Make a double-stitch seam across the curved line, staying close to the edge of the cutout. You can either use a back stitch or a sewing machine. Purchased fabric must be stitched vertically on both the left and right sides.

4
Flip the jean fabric so that the stitched sides are now inside. You may purchase wooden handles designed for do-it-yourself style purses from the local fabric store, or you can make a fabric handle with a few simple stitches inside the purse on the sides just below the top edge.
