How to Work an LG Chocolate Cell Phone

Though the LG Chocolate is a popular cell phone, it can be a bit tricky to work if you've never operated a slide model. Fortunately, many of its options are the same as any other cell phone. Once you learn the basics of operating the keys and navigation wheel, you'll be making calls and downloading music in no time.

Instructions

Unlock your phone. LG Chocolate phones lock automatically when not in use, so unlock the phone by either sliding it open or by hitting the button in the middle of the navigation wheel twice; in older models, this is a blank button, but in newer versions, it's marked with "OK". From here, you can choose to select "My Music," "Get It Now" (your connection to the Internet), "Messaging," "Contacts," "Recent Calls" or "Settings & Tools."

Scroll through menus by hitting the top, bottom and sides of the navigation wheel. You can also scroll by rotating the wheel clockwise with your finger. Make selections by pressing the "OK" button.

Locate the shortcut keys on your phone's touch pad. The illuminated red lines on the top left and right of the navigation wheel are called "soft keys" and can be employed even when your Chocolate phone is closed. Press soft keys to select the options on the bottom left and right of your screen. On the home screen, for example, hit the left soft key to select "Message" to go to your text and voice mail center, or the right soft key to go to "Contacts." Shortcut keys to the bottom left and right of the wheel include "SPK" for the speaker phone and "CLR" for clear. Hit "CLR" to back up to a previous screen.

When receiving a call, hit "OK" to accept it. End a call by either closing an opened phone, selecting "End" on the keypad or by hitting the "End" button on the right side of your phone, depending on your model.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save your user's manual. It will come in handy for specific steps and troubleshooting. Some people have found the Chocolate touch pad too sensitive. To change sensitivity, select "Menu," scroll and select "Settings & Tools," scroll and select "Touch Keypad" and then "Sensor Level." Adjust accordingly. Newer models have arrows on the wheel.

  • Make sure to always gently slide the phone closed. Slamming it shut can affect functioning over time.
