Need an idea for a baby shower favor or cute gift for a child? Baby sock coin purses are the way to go. This adorable twist on a traditional change holder is a fun project that takes little time to complete. Customize the purse by choosing a baby sock with a pattern or an ornate purse frame. New baby socks are better for this project because older socks can be too worn to hold up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baby sock Tape measure Small purse frame with pinch clasp Scissors Pliers Needle Thread
  1. Step 1

Lay the baby sock on a flat surface and smooth out the material. The sock should look like a letter "J."

  2. Step 2

Measure the legs of the purse frame (they should be an inch or less). Use the scissors to make slits in both folds of the sock that are equal in length to the legs of the frame. This will give the frame a place to attach to the fabric and allow it to open and close.

  3. Step 3

Slide the purse frame into the sock so that the cut edges fit into the ridge on either side of the frame's legs. The bottom of the legs should butt up against the solid part of the sock. Fit the top edges of the sock into the ridges underneath the top of the purse frame.

  4. Step 4

Use a pair of pliers to pinch the metal edges of the purse frame closed around the fabric until they're tight enough to keep the sock material from slipping out when change is in the purse.

  5. Step 5

Sew the ends of the purse frame to the sock with a needle and thread.

on 9/10/2009 I am very interested in making these but I am having a hard time finding the clasps. Could you please tell me where I might find these?
