How to Use Rubber Stamps

Use rubber stamps to make blotter marks that show a date, price or decorative design for arts and crafts. Some rubber stamps are used by businesses to mark customer checks. Date stamps have rubber belts that rotate months and numbers to set a date. Rubber stamps for price marking use a similar design. Scrapbook makers often use a rubber stamp set to mark elements by category or time periods. Children learn rudimentary physics applications while rubber stamping for fun. Stamp pads come in various ink colors to contrast with paper colors or for creating artistic designs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stamp pad Paper towel Paper
  1. Step 1

    Clean dust and debris off the marking face of the rubber stamp with a paper towel. Particles on the stamp interrupt its marking.

  2. Step 2

    Hold the rubber stamp by the handle. Press the marking face firmly into a stamp pad.

  3. Step 3

    Press the ink-soaked stamp firmly down on paper where you wish to leave a mark.

  4. Step 4

    Pull the stamp away to check the quality of the mark.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cracked or worn rubber stamps will not leave smooth even marks.
  • Smacking a rubber stamp against paper can cause ink to splatter or blur.
