Bluetooth technology has made hands-free communication common in today's society, and if you are addicted to checking your email on your BlackBerry, and need to do so during telephone conversations, a hands-free device is essential. BlackBerries are natively compatible with Bluetooth devices and have a special application designed to manage your wireless headset.

How to Set up Bluetooth on a BlackBerry

  1. Step 1

Press the menu button on your BlackBerry, which is located next to the call button. All of your apps will appear on screen.

  2. Step 2

Double-click the Bluetooth settings icon. This button should have the Bluetooth symbol on it as well as a gear icon next to it.

  3. Step 3

Put your phone in discovery mode. This will be the first option you see once you click on the Bluetooth settings icon. A pop-up window will ask if you want to search for Bluetooth devices, or if you want to make it so that Bluetooth devices can find your phone. Choose the second option.

  4. Step 4

Activate your Bluetooth headset. This will send a signal that will link the headset to the phone. With most Bluetooth headsets, this can be done by pressing the blue "call" button twice. However, you should still consult your owner's manual just in case.

  5. Step 5

Test your connection. Have a friend call you on your BlackBerry and see if you can communicate with them using your Bluetooth earpiece. The sound should be crystal-clear. If there is any static or interference, you may want to try setting up your Bluetooth again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't worry If you cannot establish your Bluetooth connection right away. Bluetooth signals can be sensitive to interference and may also be affected if a connection signal times out before the process is complete.
