How To Make Your Own Acorn Jewelry

Instead of spending hundred of dollars on jewelry from a jewelry store, why not make your own using pieces of nature? You can find acorns outside in your own backyard (if you have an oak tree) or you can buy them cheaply at your local craft store or online. These acorns can easily be turned into beautiful pieces of jewelry that will give any outfit a natural touch. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Twine Acorns Beads Scissors Super glue Earring hooks Electric drill 1.3 mm Lip & Spur Drill Bit

Instructions

  1. Acorn Necklace

    • 1

      Gather about five or six acorns and acorn tops (that fit together).

    • 2

      Place all acorns on a hard, flat surface.

    • 3

      Using super glue, glue the acorn tops back onto the acorns (if they aren't in place already). Allow to dry.

      Drill a hole small hole all the way through the acorn under the top using a 1.3mm lip and spur drill bit.

      Add about five or six brown colored beads through your twine.

      Slide your acorn on the twine until they touch the beads.

      Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until all of the twine is covered in acorns and beads.

      Tie a small loop at one end of the twine and at the other end. Te a large bead (large enough to fit through the loop and stay secure to wear).

    Acorn Earrings

    • 9

      Gather two acorns with tops that fit securely.

    • 10

      Glue the tops of your acorns back onto them with super glue.

      Drill a hole from the top of the acorn through the bottom, vertically, until it goes all the way through, using a 1.3 mm lip and spur drill bit.

      Slide a piece of twine through the hole and at the bottom. Tie in a small knot so that the acorn does not fall off.

      On the opposite end, tie a small earring hook to the twine.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use smaller pieces of twine to make bracelets and use the necklace steps to complete it.

  • Adult supervision is recommended.
