Format a Memory Card on a BlackBerry Curve

The BlackBerry Curve is one of the must-have accessories for the busy professional on the go. You can check your email, take phone calls, surf the Internet, download music and take pictures. However, at some point when you're doing all of that downloading and storing, you may find that you need a bit more memory than the amount that comes standard in your Curve's system. At that point, you'll want to install and format a microSD memory card.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the memory card with the Curve's power off. Most Curve models have memory slots underneath the batteries, so you will need to turn off the phone and remove the battery cover. Remove the battery, and slide the card into the slot. Lock the card holder into place, and replace the battery and cover.

    • 2

      Turn the phone back on.

    • 3

Click the "Options" icon on the BlackBerry screen. This is the icon that looks like a wrench.

    • 4

Scroll to "Advanced Options" and click, then scroll to "Media Card" and click. The media card screen will come up.

    • 5

Click the menu key to the left of the trackball. Scroll to "Format Card" and click it. Select "Yes" when you are prompted to confirm you want to format the card. A prompt will come up saying your card has been formatted.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to read your Curve's documentation carefully. Not all card sizes or capacities will work with every Curve.

  • Formatting your card erases all data. Do not format the card if there are files on it you don't want to lose.
