Find a place and get equipment. If you want to own a portable pizza business, you must acquire the assets necessary to run an efficient business, including a building. This could range from your house to a small shop located somewhere in the city.

Secondly, you need to own the necessary equipment needed to make pizza. A pizza oven is your more important and expensive purchase. You also need pizza cutters and other pizza cooking tools. Also, you will need to order all the ingredients people love on pizza. This ranges from common ingredients like tomato sauce and cheese to more diverse and exotic ingredients like jalapeños and mushrooms. The more ingredients you offer for your pizza, the more business you will receive.

Incorporate your business. To open your pizza business, you first must incorporate the business name as well as fill out several paperwork and documents. Decide on a name for your pizza company and contact your local government for information on opening and obtaining a food business.

Food safety experts will also need to run through your business headquarters and assess that you will provide outstanding food by following strict safety standards.

You will need to set a budget, defining how many employees you want, what you will pay them and all expenses.

Hire staff. If your pizza is strictly portable, then you really only need two employees although three to five are always helpful if your business stays very busy. You need a phone line so people can call and order. Hire an employee to answer the phone. Hire another employee or more to cook the pizza and deliver it. Make sure the delivery drivers have reliable transportation and understand the city well.

The quality of your pizza along with the time it takes to deliver the pizza are the two primary influences on whether or not people will return for your service.

Create a menu. Creating a menu is a big stage in any business, none more important than with pizza. A general pizza menu offers basic pizzas like cheese, pepperoni and sausage, while also offering "house specials" and custom pizzas.

"House specials" is your chance to really shine as a cook. These pizzas are different than any other pizza business and are some of the best-tasting pizzas on the menu. Custom-built pizzas allow customers to mix and match ingredients.

Also, make sure you offer thin crust along with standard crust. Some people prefer thin crust pizza.

Market and advertise your business. Nobody will know about your portable pizza business unless you market and advertise. Advertising costs a lot, so if you cannot take out a commercial for TV or radio, print out fliers and go door to door. See if you have the money to take out a classified ad in the yellow book or in the newspaper.

Get word around about your pizza and you are sure to generate business. However, nothing kick-starts a business stronger than offering coupons and great deals. People are much more likely to give you business if you offer an excellent coupon. People like saving money, and if they like your pizza, they will come back for more.
