How to Draw a Monkey's Body
Monkey's aren't the most difficult animal to draw. The fact that they share many features with humans makes it even easier. In this article, we're going to talk about the best way to draw a monkey's body, step-by-step.

The Body
-
1
Start by sketching a peanut-shaped circle in the middle of the page. This will be the monkey's stomach and torso. For now, draw your shapes lightly so you can easily adjust or draw over them.
-
2
Sketch a circle about one-third the size of the first one, on top of the upper portion of the monkey's body. Draw it lightly, just above where the shoulders would be. This will be the monkey's head.

3
At the base of the first, peanut-shaped circle, draw two arches side by side - one on the far edge of the torso, and the other in the middle of the torso. The arches should come up to about the middle of the peanut-shaped circle. These will be the monkey's knees.
-
4
From the top of the peanut-shaped circle, draw two lines that extent all the way to the bottom of the torso - one on the same edge as the first knee, and the other in the middle of the torso, overlapping the second knee. The lines should bow in the middle, slightly, toward the stomach and torso. These will be the monkey's arms.
The Face, Limbs, and Details
-
5
We'll start with the face. There are many different ways to draw a face, but the best place to start is with the eyes. These will be your anchor point for the rest of the face. From there, draw the nose and move down to the mouth. Finish with the ears on the outer edge of the circle. For accuracy, pull up some photos of different monkeys, and study some of their facial features.

Moving on to the limbs, starting with the hands and fingers. Draw the palms a little bit longer than you would a human's. Same with the fingers. Make the space between the thumbs and the rest of fingers a little bit longer as well. This will help make the monkey's hands look more realistic. Do the same with the feet. The feet ought to look very similar to the hands in size and proportion.

Finally, the details. The face is the area that you're going to want to detail the most, since it's where the viewer generally looks first. Use the photos as a reference again. Moving on to the body, establish the lines a little more clearly now, and erase the lighter bits of your earlier lines that overlap. Use small, scribble-like strokes along the edges to make your monkey look like he has fur.
