How to Design Your Own College Sweatshirt

Creating your sweatshirt

Install the photo editing software. Find clip art or photos of your school mascot. Download and save the files to your computer. Or, try an all-text design in a fun font.

Open the photo editing software. Click on "File," and then "Open New," or "Create New." Select the size of the project. Think in terms of how big you want the image to be on your shirt. Choosing image size instead of pixel size in the drop down menu will make this easier.

Open the photos or clip art you saved, and copy and paste them into your new project. Arrange the pictures into the desired location. You should be able to select the images and drag and drop them into place. Use the software to crop, enlarge or add text. Save your project.

Insert the iron-on transfer paper into your printer. Double-check that the paper is straight. Open your project on the computer. Click on "File" and select "Print." When the print box pops up, select the proper paper size and type from the drop-down menus. Click on "Print."

Lay your shirt out on the ironing board. Plug in your iron and set to the temperature designated on the iron-on paper package. Lay the image face down on the shirt. Iron on the back of the paper. Follow the directions on the package for the correct removal method. In most cases the paper backing should be slowly peeled off.
