1
Sit in a comfortable place with a flat surface, such as the kitchen table, to work on. Lay your pencils and hat on the table. Smooth the hat out as much as possible.
-
2
Place the stencil where you want the drawing to be. Trace the stencil with the pencil. For the outline try to use a darker shade. Continue this process until your entire design is on the hat.

3
Paint the outline of your design. Using the fabric paint, trace the outerlines of your drawing. Paint the inside with the appropriate colors. If you have multiple smaller drawings, trace and fill one design at a time.
-
4
Allow your hat to dry completely. Drying overnight works best. Go back over any light or missed sections. Allow to dry once more.
-
5
Spray the hat with a stain protector. Allow the hat to dry and spray again. Once you are sure the hat is completely dry, wash with a mild detergent by hand. Lay flat to dry.

Tips & Warnings
Purchase stencils that bend easily. Draw freehand if you have the talent or for an abstract look.
Be careful when applying paints as they will stain.
