Silk is considered one of the most luxurious and chic materials available in women's clothing. Silk is used for dresses, blouses and accessories like scarves. Wearing a silk scarf can add some panache and timeless style to your wardrobe. There are many ways to wear a silk scarf, and each one will add that special little something to your look.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Fold the silk scarf in half end-to-end. Drape the scarf around your neck and pull the two ends through the loop created by the fold. Arrange the scarf so the loop lies at the center. This look is casual and will also keep your neck warm.

  2. Step 2

Tie the scarf around your neck in a classic knot or bow. This style works best with smaller silk scarves, and doubles as a necklace. You can also allow the scarf to drape around the neck simply, with the ends flowing free. This will showcase the pattern and silk material of the scarf and can take the place of jewelry.

  3. Step 3

Unfold the silk scarf and open completely. Drape the scarf over the top of your hair so that the edge rests about an inch from your hair line. You can tie the scarf under your chin for an old-fashioned look or tie the ends at the nape of your neck for a slightly more modern look. Using your silk scarf over your hair protects you from the sun or cold.

  4. Step 4

Sweep hair up into a ponytail. Tie the scarf around the ponytail holder and allow it to drape down the back of the neck and hair. This makes a classic ponytail more fun and styled. Fold the scarf in half several times until it is a thin band. Wrap the scarf over the top of your hair, behind the ears and tie at the nape of the neck. The scarf acts as a headband and adds flair as the ends of the scarf drape down.

  5. Step 5

Tie the silk scarf around your waist over a fitted blouse. Fold the scarf in half lengthwise and wrap smoothly around the waist, tying the ends at the side or in the back. This adds color to your outfit as well as accentuates your waist or curves. You can fold the scarf into a triangular shape and wrap around the hips, knotting the ends on one side.
