How to Remove Dried Latex Paint From Wood Floors

You've pulled up the carpet in your living room to expose the original hardwood floor beneath. Once it's cleaned, you realize to your dismay that there are paint drops dried on the floor. You don't have to refinish the floor; latex paint can be removed with a bit of elbow grease and a common household product.

Things You'll Need

• Rubbing alcohol Non-abrasive scouring pad Putty knife

Instructions

1. Apply the alcohol to the dried paint with a small brush or cotton tipped swab. If you have a large area with drips, you can place a piece of plastic over the spots to prevent the rubbing alcohol from evaporating. Let sit for 10 minutes.

2. Scrub the spot with the scouring pad, being careful not to scratch the wood around the paint. The spot should lift off easily.

3. Remove a stubborn thick spot by scraping the alcohol-softened paint with the edge of a putty knife, being careful not to gouge or scratch the wood floor.
