This type of suit features a tube-like top, often strapless, which can cover the bust straight across or have a peekaboo hole, charms, shells or other details in the center of the top. Even though some bandeau suits come with straps, they offer only a tad more support than those without. 1. Make sure you have the proper body type. Bandeau bathing suits offer little support in the bust area, meaning anyone who needs lots of support should opt for a different style. Bandeau suits are often very unforgiving and show off every curve. This also means they also show off every bulge. Best body types for a bandeau suit would be a B cup or smaller and a sleek, muscular shape.

2. Pick the style. Choices include the bandeau bikini, bandeau one-piece suit or bandeau with cut-outs. The latter features a bandeau top and bikini-type bottoms usually held together with a strip down the center between the two or other fabric featuring cut-out holes or designs in the side or other areas. Some may include side or center tie straps attached to the top, while others will be strapless. Cut-out styles are the least forgiving by far.

3. Get the right fit. Bandeau suits are tricky because you need a snugger fit up top than with traditional suits. Make sure the top fully covers the bust and stays in place even without any straps attached. Once the top is secure, any straps can be used to fine-tune the fit, but they should not be the main reason the bandeau is staying in place.
