How to Use Entrecard to Increase Web Traffic

People everywhere are blogging. Some do it for fun and some do it for income. Whatever the reason for blogging, it is not very useful if no one sees your work or reads your content. The key to a successful blog is traffic. Without it, there is no one to click your links, leave comments, buy your products or share link love. A fun and effective way to generate traffic to your blog is to use Entrecard. Easy to set up and even easier to use, you are guaranteed an increase in traffic. Here is how it works.

Instructions

1. Set up your Entrecard account at the Entrecard website. See the Resources section below for a link. Begin the setup process by supplying the requested information. Entrecard will request your email address, a password and category description. You will be asked to choose one of their images or supply your own. This image will represent your blog and give other "droppers" a quick idea of your site's content. Entrecard members are known as "droppers." Continue your setup by supplying the URL of your blog, then adding a title, a tagline and a description. From that information, Entrecard will design a widget that displays your image and blog specs. You will be given a code for that widget that you will copy and paste into your side bar. Now you are ready to go.

2. Search for blogs that are in some way related to your blog's topic. These are "relevant" blogs.

3. Visit relevant blogs and drop your card there. "Dropping" is done by clicking on the Entrecard widget displayed in the relevant blog's side bar. Your card will show up on the blogger's dashboard and he will click on it to follow you back to your blog. The more cards you drop, the more potential visits back you are creating at your own blog.

4. Return the dropping favor to anyone who drops a card on your blog. This will improve your reputation and potentially motivate that dropper to return to your blog.

5. Advertise on other Entrecard blogs. Each card you drop will earn points for you which translate to Entrecard "credits." You use this currency to buy 24 hours worth of ad time, where your widget will displayed as that blog's Entrecard widget for that period. The more interesting your widget is, the more likely that visitors to that blog will click on your widget, whether they are there to drop a card or just visit the site.

6. Participate in the Entrecard Forums. This will make you familiar to other droppers and motivate them to visit and drop on your blog.

Tips & Warnings

• Focus on relevant blogs but do not be afraid to reach out to others. You cannot predict whose attention you might gain as a regular reader or subscriber.
