The FAFSA is the federal application for financial aid, but it is also used to apply for financial aid from other sources, such as your state and school financial aid. The deadline for each state’s student financial aid is also listed on the FAFSA website. State forms do not replace filling out the FAFSA. You must fill out the FAFSA to receive federal student aid.

Inquire at your to find out their definition of an application deadline to determine whether it is receipts date and time or the process date and time of your FAFSA. When you submit your FAFSA, be sure to print out the confirmation page, which contains the date and time you submitted your FAFSA.
