You can change the washers on your bathroom faucet

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Philip head screw driver
  • small screw driver
  • crescent wrench or channel lock plier
  1. Step 1

First you make sure you turn the water off to the sink, in side the vanity on the back wall turn both valve clockwise to shut the water off. Turn the handle on the faucet on to let trap water pressure out, take your small screw driver and take out the plastic cover on the center of the faucet' s handle.

  2. Step 2

In the center of the handle is a screw holding the handle to the stem, loosen the screw and take the handle off on both side. Use your crescent wrench and take out the stem. If you turn the stem over you will see black rubber, that's the washer.

  3. Step 3

In the middle of the washer there is a Philip head screw holding the washer to the stem, loosen this screw and the washer should come right out. Get your new washer and install it to the stem and make sure you put the plastic washer onto the stem before you install it to the faucet.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you over tighten the washer it will squeeze the washer out of place.
  • Open the valve all the way before installing it in to the faucet, hold the housing and turn the stem counter clockwise all the way.
  • Make sure the water is off
  • Always wear safety goggles
