Step 1
Gather the stories. Visit your loved one (if they're still alive) and have them tell you about their life: growing up, early romances, the love of their life, their career, their children, the challenges they faced, the things they consider their greatest life victories. Use a tape-recorder or just write really fast :) Another great resource for stories about your loved one is their spouse, their children, grandchildren, friends, co-workers. Ask them what their favorite memory of "whoever" was. It will warm your heart to hear these wonderful stories; the greater reward will come in sharing them with others.
-
Step 2
Scour old photo albums for pictures of your loved one. Search for old newspaper articles, degrees, etc. that tell of important highlights in their life. Scan these onto a CD and upload to your computer.
-
Step 3
A Tribute to my grandmother (using Shutterfly photo book)Choose one of the online photo sites (Kodak, Shutterfly, Wal-mart photo shop) and begin uploading your information into a photo book. These sites provide many colorful and creative photo book styles, and you can choose one that best matches your loved one's personality.
-
Step 4
Following the site's easy instructions, you can decide on each page of your photo book's lay-out: text and photo, text only, a photo collage, etc. You have complete control over how each page looks and what order they will ultimately appear in.
-
Step 5
When you have completed the book, simply preview it online and purchase. Most books cost between $20 and $50. They make great gifts for family and friends, and the sophisticated, sentimental value of these photo books is priceless.
