How to Get Cheap Plane Tickets

Having been a very frequent flyer for the past few months, I’ve learned how to get the cheapest plane tickets by just a little searching. I’ve tried a few methods and websites to find the best deals on airlines and plane tickets. You may have to visit more than one website but you’re sure to find the cheapest price on the best plane tickets.

Instructions

1. Travel on a weekday. One of the most important cost –saving measures I’ve found is that flying during the middle of the week will mean cheaper plane tickets than weekends. If you can schedule your flight for a Wednesday or Thursday, you’ll get a better deal on that ticket than flying on a Friday or Saturday.

2. Expedia. This is my favorite site for flying cheap. You can choose from a list of airlines sorted by price. You can go with the airline or price that best suits you and your schedule. It’s free to sign up for Expedia and you can keep track of that cheap flight with your itinerary that is easily printable.

3. Orbitz. Here is another great site for discount plane tickets. Again, this one is free to sign up for and can be sorted by the best price on plane tickets for your needs. And with Orbitz’s “Price Assurance” you can actually get a refund on what you paid for that cheap plane ticket if the airfare price lowers.

4. Travelocity. Another site for cheap airline tickets. The great thing about sights like Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity is that it’s free to sign up and easy to keep track of your itinerary. Plus, you’ll get notified if there’s a discount on plane tickets or a special offer. Consider signing up for a few of these sites and then compare for the best price and some great discounts on plane tickets, hotels, car rentals and more. Getting all of your travel needs in one package will save a lot compared to booking everything individually.

5. Airlines. While you may save money on tickets by going with one of the above websites, they do charge a fee for booking the discount tickets through their site. Once you’ve found a price you like on one of these sites, check on the airline’s website to see if you can get that same ticket for a better price directly through the airline. This is my favorite trick for getting cheap plane tickets!
