Cleaning miniblinds can be difficult or easy. I am going to describe the easy type or cleaning.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tub of Hot Soapy Water
  • Rag

First pull the blinds all the way to the top. Then take the blinds to the tub of hot soapy water.

In the hot soapy water, put a small amount of dish washing detergent and/or washing powder. Then open the blinds and let them open fully. A partner is helpful at this time. Let the blinds soak. After the detergent has time to break down the dust and dirt, take a rag and wipe the blinds on both sides to make sure the layer of dust and dirt that has been broken down wipes off.

  3. Step 3

Let the water drain, if it is a bath/tub combo, rinse with the shower for a few minutes.

  4. Step 4

Let the blinds drain for a couple of minutes. Afterwards you can put them on a towel to completely drain of the water. If they are still wet you can spot wipe them with a towel. Then put them back up knowing they are clean and you used gentle things to wash them with. My mother loved cleaning our blinds during spring cleaning.

Tips & Warnings
  • Depending on the color you can add a little bleach to the water to kill germs.
  • Be careful to drain or let most of the water drip out, or else you will be cleaning your windows as well.
