Steaming food is a healthy way to cook and is so easy! This description will help you learn how to use a steamer and will have you eating in no time!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • water
  • food steamer
  • food to be steamed
  1. Step 1

First you want to set up your food steamer according to the directions. Usually this just involves the pot, the steamer with holes in the bottom, and a lid. Plug the steamer into the wall once ready to start cooking.

  2. Step 2

Next you want to put your food inside the pot with holes in the bottom, set this pot on the larger pot, and place the lid on top. This allows the steam to rise up and cook the food. This is good for vegetables (frozen or raw) or anything that can be steamed. Some steamers even allow for rice to cook in the bottom pot while the vegetables are cooking on top. Great way to save time and cost of electricity!

  3. Step 3

Third you want to put a little water in the bottom pot and set the temperature high enough that the water will boil. The steam will then rise up and cook your vegetables. Easy as that!

Tips & Warnings
  • Cook your vegetables long enough where you can put a fork through them fairly easy. Cooking too long will take out some of the nutrients, though it is still safe to eat them.
