Make Easy Kettle Caramel Corn

Caramel Corn is an easy and inexpensive snack. It is a sweet and salty comfort food. This is a deliciously easy recipe for Kettle Carmel Corn that is reminiscent of the old Karmel Corn Stores. This recipe uses the Whiley Pop stove top popcorn popper. You can find these poppers online and at most department stores.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Whirley Pop stove top popcorn popper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup popcorn
  • splash vanilla
  • 1 tbl butter
  • salt
  • large bowl
  • rubber spatula
  1. Step 1

Set a front burner on your stove top for medium heat.

  2. Step 2

While the burner is preheating, add 1/4 cup oil and 1/3 cup popcorn to the Whirley Pop. Stir popcorn in oil by turning the crank in the handle. When the popcorn and oil are mixed add the 1/4 cup brown sugar and a splash of vanilla. Mix again.

  3. Step 3

Place Whirley Pop on the preheated burner and turn the handle stirring the caramel corn until the popcorn is finished popping. You will be able to tell that the popping is complete by noticing that it has become harder to stir and the sound of popping has slowed down almost to a stop. You can also lift the lid and peak. If the caramel corn has reached the top of the pot it is finished popping.

  4. Step 4

Pour the kettle caramel corn into a large serving bowl and pour 1 tbl melted butter over the top. Distribute the butter evenly by tossing with a rubber spatula. Salt to taste and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Kettle Caramel Corn is delicious warm but will also store in an airtight container or plastic bag - though it never lasts that long at my house.
  • For easy clean up, add warm soapy water to your Whiley Pop and allow to soak for half an hour.
