In these easy to follow steps I will show you how to tune your car subwoofer to your taste

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Subwoofer
  • Amplifier
  • The know how - to hook them up!!!
  1. Step 1

Assuming your subwoofer is already in place and is hooked up to the amplifier Correctly

Turn the gain all the way down on the amplifier - So you don't blow your newly installed subwoofers

  2. Step 2

Turn the volume all the way up on the head unit with a CD of choice until you hear distortion in the High's and Mid speakers, then back down the volume a touch so there is no distortion present

  3. Step 3

now if your head unit allows control of the bass then turn it up on the head unit before you turn up the gain on the amplifier - this is so you can have full control of how quiet or loud the bass is without having to adjust the gain controls

  4. Step 4

Next start turning up the gain slowly, until there is distortion and again turn down the gain a bit until you hear no distortion - this is the max level you should be sending to the subwoofers

  5. Step 5

play around with the head unit's (CD player's) bass controls until you find a volume for the subwoofers that suits your taste

Tips & Warnings
  • Always read the manuals that came with your certain audio equipment so you know what sound you can make the subwoofer reproduce before blowing point
  • Distortion is no good, if there is distortion turn down the gain and or volume a bit else you will hurt your speakers, head unit, amplifier!
