Use Baking Soda for Everyday Things

Like vinegar, baking soda is found in most homes in the US. Here are some everyday uses other than cooking of baking soda.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Calm animal smells - mix baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and liquid dish soap and use it to get rid of the smell when you get skunk prayed. If you have a smelly dog, you can also just sprinkle some baking soda on their fur and then brush through.

  2. Step 2

Soothe bee stings. Make a baking soda and water paste and apply to bee stings with a cotton ball.

  3. Step 3

Remove stains. If you get food coloring on your hands scrub them with baking soda and water.

  4. Step 4

Brush teeth. If you want to make your own toothpaste to save money and use something more natural, all you have to do is make a paste with baking soda and water. Not only does it clean your teeth but the baking soda also acts as a whitener.

  5. Step 5

Extinguish fires. When baking soda is heated it will emit carbon dioxide which can smother SMALL flames.

Tips & Warnings
  • sprinkle baking soda in the interior of your car to help get rid of smells
  • do not put baking soda on wasp or yellow jacket stings. use vinegar for that.
