Things You'll Need:
- green beans
- freezer bags
- large pot
- water
- knife
- cutting board
-
Step 1
Fill the large pot about half full of water. Do not add anything additional to the water. Place the pot on a stove and heat to a boil. While waiting for the water to boil, continue to Step 2.
-
Step 2
Wash the beans to remove all dirt and debris. Using the knife, trim the ends from both ends of the bean. Then cut to the desired length.
-
Step 3
Carefully pour the beans into the boiling water and boil at a full boil for 3-4 minutes.
-
Step 4
Quickly remove the beans from the boiling water and drop into ice water for 3-4 minutes.
-
Step 5
Drain the beans to remove extra water. Now that you have successfully blanched the beans, they are ready to packaged for the freezer. Beans prepared in this way can be frozen for several months.
