Things You'll Need:
- microwave
- electric coffee pot
- paper plates
- plastic silverware
- plastic cups
- outdoor sink
- take-out menus!
-
Step 1
Pack up. You will need large boxes and/or large plastic containers in which to store the items from your kitchen (especially if you are replacing your cabinets). One guideline is to have 2-3 boxes for each cabinet.
-
Step 2
Create a faux kitchen. You will need another area of your home to serve as your temporary kitchen. The oft-unused formal dining room is perfect for this. If you can, move your refrigerator here, as well as your microwave, coffeemaker, crock pot, toaster oven, or other small appliances.
-
Step 3
Paper and plastic. If you do not have the use of your dishwasher during the renovation, stock up on paper plates, plastic cups and silverware, etc so that you can use these items in place of your regular packed-away dishes and silverware.
-
Step 4
Take Out or Eat in! You will want to collect take-out menus for the nights when you get sick of not being able to cook. Set a budget for eating out, which will be your easiest option while you are kitchenless.
