Children outgrow clothes so fast. Sometimes they don’t even get the chance to wear an outfit more than once, or even at all, before they are too big for it, especially when they are young. A great way to “recycle” your children’s clothes and put a little money back in your pocket to buy new, is to sell the clothes at a yard sale or consignment shop.

If you want to get top dollar for your gently used children’s clothing, follow these simple steps!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Washer and Dryer
  • Plenty of Hangers
  • Gently worn clothes
  1. Step 1

    GATHER

Gather all of the clothes you want to sell. Go through your kids closets, under their beds, the laundry room, clothes you’ve boxed up… anywhere you may have stashed clothes that don’t fit. Sort the clothes into seasons. You may want to consider only selling clothes that are in season or will be soon. You will get more money selling your clothes in season. You can store all of the out of season clothes and save them for another time.

  2. Step 2

    WASH

Wash all of the clothes. Even if they are clean already, washing them will give them a fresh look and remove any creases from being packed away. Pre-treat any stains to try to get out. A potential buyer will not want to risk purchasing clothes with stains, and will assume the stains won’t come out.

  3. Step 3

    PREPARE

Hang all of the clothes up on hangers, facing the same direction. Turn the hanger so it is shaped like a question mark, pointing to the left. Then hang your clothes. Go to local stores and ask for extra hangers, especially hangers for outfits and pants. Group all of your clothes by size, so it will be easier for the potential buyer to check them out.

Tips & Warnings
  • To get top dollar, iron items that require it.
  • Use fabric softener to keep your items soft and smelling great.
