How to Prepare for a Craft Show

The first time you sell at a craft fair, you will most certainly forget something. Whether it be a mirror so someone can check out a necklace your selling or maybe duct tape to make sure your displays don't blow down on a windy day. What ever it is, don't worry. It won't ruin your day but it will let you know grow your list of items to bring. I like to bring a bag full of supplies such as a stapler and paper clips. I may not use them, but at east I have them.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up your tent if your show is outside. If you don't have a tent, bring an umbrella to block the sun.

    • 2

If your craft fair supplies your table- great! If not, determine how many items you have to sell and how many tables you need. Bring a chair, too!

    • 3

Cover your table! Even if it's just a plain black cloth. No one wants to see an undressed table. It adds to your display and adds an extra finished touch. If you are selling on a windy day, duct tape the cloth to the table. Hide the tape, of course.

    • 4

Price your items. Use stickers or hanging tags. You want to show price. Most people think that if a price is not shown, it is to expensive; and won't bother to ask about buying.

    • 5

Use displays that showcase your product and are easy to set up. Make sure each item has enough space and doesn't crowd the table. The easier to see, the easier to pick up and buy. Displays can be on the table or you can make walls around your perimeter to display items.

    • 6

Have a cash bag with enough bills to cover change. This depends on how much each item is. For example, my items average $30, so I bring $100 change. At a craft sale, most people buy with cash. It's up to you to accept checks. You can also get a craft credit card account.
