You will learn how to record your favorite songs performing the lead and background vocals without the aid of anyone else or a computer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A CD of the song you wish to record.
  • A reliable cassette recorder with built-in microphone.
  • A boom box with cassette and CD recording features.
  • and 2 blank cassettes.
  1. Step 1

Load your CD into the CD player then load the first blank cassette tape into the cassette recorder, press record and pause buttons simultaneously to create a smooth sounding effect. When you're ready to sing press pause again to enable recording.

  2. Step 2

Play your song on the CD player, at this time you sing the background vocals; this is your first voice.

  3. Step 3

Take tape out of cassette recorder and load into the tape section of the boom box and rewind it back to the beginning of the song. Take the second cassette tape and place it into the cassette recorder, press record and pause at same time.

  4. Step 4

Press play on the boom box tape player to play the song back, this time you sing along with yourself singing the background in another key or tone to create a harmonizing or choir-like effect.

  5. Step 5

After completing the song take the tape out of boom box and rewind to the beginning, then switch tapes from boom box and cassette recorder. You are now ready to sing your lead vocals. THIS IS WHERE YOU SHINE!

  6. Step 6

Press record and pause simultaneously on cassette recorder. Play the song on the boom box. At this time, you should hear two of your own voices singing background. You've drowned out the original artists. You are singing the lead and guess who is singing behind you. ...YOU!!
