Things You'll Need:
- Steam Iron
- Paper Towels
- Protective Towels
- Ironing Board
- Scraper
-
Step 1
Protect your ironing surface with a layer of clean towels. Preheat your iron. Use the cotton setting. Get it hot enough to use your steam feature.
Place your item on the towels first, wax side up. -
Step 2
Then, be sure to also put a few layers of paper towels over the wax and between your iron, to absorb any residue and keep your iron wax free too.
-
Step 3
Heat, soften, and gently remove any wax you can after carefully ironing it. The paper towels will absorb any melting wax. Use your steam feature as well. Check wax and try to scrape most of it off, without melting it completely into the fabric.
Once most of it is scraped off, repeat the above step with fresh clean layers of paper towels, and continue to heat while paper towels continue to absorb. If any residual wax remains, it may need an oil base stain treatment which can also be carefully blotted up. If you used the protective layers of towels first, on your ironing board cover none of the wax should be get on it.
This is for a patterned wool woven runner.
Not fine linen, or cottons.
