Make an Old Donut Taste Like It Was Just Made

There is nothing like that fresh donut taste from a hot, steaming pastry fresh out of the fryer. Unfortunately, after just a few minutes that little piece of heaven in the shape of an "O" becomes a cold, stiff, bread-like lump. Here is an extremely simple way to reinvigorate an old donut and make it taste like new.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microwave Oven
  • Plate
  1. Step 1

Place an old, hard, cold donut on a small microwave save plate. Do not cover the donut with a napkin or anything else.

  2. Step 2

Microwave the donut on high power for 10 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave oven. This is the average, full sized microwave oven. If your microwave is more or less powerful, you may need to adjust the time by a second or two.

  3. Step 3

Check the donut with your fingers. It should be warm but not so hot that you cannot touch it. The surface should crinkle slightly upon contact. The sugar should be slightly melted.

  4. Step 4

Remove the donut from the microwave oven if it fits the description above. If it is cold to the touch or still hard, try microwaving it another 5 seconds.

  5. Step 5

Be careful not to overheat the donut. It will turn to goo if you nuke it too much.

  6. Step 6

Close your eyes and enjoy the scrumptious donut. Imagine that you are sitting at the donut shop and just pulled it out of the fryer.
