Avoid Having Your eHow Article Removed
Avoid Having Your eHow Article Removed

A surprisingly large number of eHow writers fail to follow the basic outline for an eHow article. The website goes to great lengths to teach writers the correct format through its tutorial. However, many eHow writers never bother to read it. As a result, many articles are removed from eHow for failing to follow guidelines. Here are some simple steps to ensure that your eHow article will not be pulled from view.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write an introduction. This must be at least two sentences long and establish what the eHow article is about. Simply restating the title will get your article removed. Try to make the introduction at least 50 words long without restating facts in your steps.

  2. Step 2

Make the picture match. The photograph you choose for your eHow article must go with the content of the article. Posting a picture of yourself or anything else that has nothing to do with the content will get the article pulled. Use your avatar for your personal photograph.

  3. Step 3

Create actionable steps. These are "how to" articles. You must explain "how to" do something. Simply stating facts or opinions in the steps in not satisfactory. Each step should begin with an actionable verb.

  4. Step 4

Include at least three actionable steps. Ehow requires at least three steps even if a subject can be covered by one or two steps. An article with two actionable steps and a statement for the third does not count.

  5. Step 5

Proofread your eHow article. A few spelling or grammar errors will be forgiven, but if they become distracting to the content your article will be removed. Taking a minute to read through your article before posting it will solve most of these problems.

  6. Step 6

Avoid writing from a first person point of view. Ehow is not a blog. Telling a story about yourself is not permitted. It is fine to write in the second or third person.

  7. Step 7

Keep the text to between 400 and 600 words. Any less and you probably didn't cover the topic. Any more and you are probably boring the reader.

  8. Step 8

Answer the question. This may be the most important point of all. The content of the eHow article must tell the reader how to do whatever is in the title. Keep in mind that the title is what got the reader to the article to begin with. If you don't answer the question then the reader is left unsatisfied.
