Dress in Style in the Snow and Cold Weather

Just because it's cold doesn't mean you have to look like a schlep rock. Try these few simple tricks for dressing in style even when it's cold.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stylish boots
  • Tights/Hose
  • Jackets
  • Long Underwear (yes long underwear)

    Long-John Top/Long Underwear

It's easy to get started looking fabulous even in flurries (or worse). First get a long underwear shirt. You can find inexpensive versions at your big-box retailer such as Target or Wal-Mart. Or try a specialty retailer such as Eddie Bauer or L.L. Bean this late in the season.

Wear it under turtleneck and any and every top. You will feel much warmer allowing you to look much more fashionable.

  2. Step 2
Tights keep you warm. Try thick ones made from cotton.

    Tights or Opaque Hose

Next you need tights or opaque hose. Wear under any and all skirts.

    Boots with Heels

Baby, you need boots. Stylish boots. Boots with heels help you dig into icy patches and keep your footing. You want heels that are not stilettos but pointy. Or nice chunky heels to help your footing remain firm.

Purchase leather boots if your budget permits.

  4. Step 4
This season jackets are short above hips and fitted

    Jackets and Blazers

Wrap cover-ups are OUT for an evening out. You want cute stylish jackets again.

For a money-saving idea, take your old jackets that you used to love to the tailors. Get them to remove the shoulder pads and adjust the seams for that. Your old jackets may look fab with a make over.

Also check out consignment stores for great finds for less.

Tips & Warnings
  • You don't need a whole new wardrobe, just a few pieces to help you make it through the cold months.
  • Don't miss the sales on boots now. Stock up for next season.
