Chandler Bing was one of the characters on the hit TV show Friends played by Matthew Perry. He was Ross' college roommate, Joey's current roommate & he eventually married Monica. In certain online polls, Chandler scores the distinction of being people's favorite Friend. A group of Friends isn't complete without a sarcastic Chandler Bing type character. Here is how to fill that void with your own Friends.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Chandler Bing is definitely the most cynical of all the Friends. He is always making a joke, even at the expense of his friends. He finds himself funny & keeps making the wise cracks even when no one else is laughing. If you don't have a friend like Chandler, than you probably are Chandler. The jokes may be from his own insecurities. A good way to achieve the Chandler effect is to say exactly what you are thinking, even when you know you shouldn't. You also have to be able to take a joke especially when people call you Chanandler.

  2. Step 2

Know when to commit. Chandler Bing was the classic commitment-phobe throughout the first seasons of the show. His only reoccurring relationship was with a woman named Janice who was beyond annoying. However, when he started dating Monica, he had to learn what it was really like to be in a relationship. During their first fight, he thought that things were over because he had never rebounded from a fight. However, with a little work & coaching from Monica, he was able to work on something more lasting.

  3. Step 3

Have a vague job. One of the running gags on the show Friends is that none of the other Friends can name Chandler's career. They know he works at an office & wears a suit, but it's generally thought of as boring. Chandler Bing gives hope to all of us who don't work in their dream jobs but maintain their sense of humor anyways.

  4. Step 4

Be supportive. As harsh as Chandler can seem at times, he is always there when his Friends need him. Chandler is constantly bailing out Joey financially, but in a way that wouldn't destroy the friendship. He even makes up a game so Joey can win money.

Tips & Warnings
  • An easy way to copy Chandler's personality is to make funny aside comments to yourself. Try saying things that would sound good on a bumper sticker.
