make Black & White Photos using Vista Windows Photo Gallery

This is a very simple method of turning your photos or digital images black & white, using only Windows Photo Gallery in Vista. It is a quick and easy way, to give your pictures a whole new ambience, by removing the color. No need for other large programs, such as Photoshop.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC Computer with Vista
  • Windows Photo Gallery
  1. Step 1

Open you picture in the Windows Photo Gallery. Normally when you double click on a picture file in Windows Vista, the picture is automatically opened in the Windows Photo Gallery. For this example I am using a small church photo again.

  2. Step 2

Go to the top Menus and click on Fix, this will bring up a side menu of options.

  3. Step 3

Click on the option Adjust Color and slide the Saturation slider all the way to the left. And that is it! You have now changed your photo or image into Black & White, giving it a completely different look and feel.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is a good idea to make a copy of your original photo or image, BEFORE you convert it to black and white, because the Windows Photo Gallery will change your original.
  • If you forget to make a copy ahead of time, you can go back into the Windows Photo Gallery and click the Revert button, on the bottom of the Fix options. Windows will have a copy of the original, but I am not sure how long it is saved, it could be lost when you shut off your computer.
