This will show you how to attach a file to an e-mail in Mozilla Thunderbird. Mozilla Thunderbird is free software, and it's a great alternative to Microsoft Outlook. One of the most annoying parts of switching software is learning where the functions are located; this eHow article will teach you how to attach a file in Thunderbird.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Thunderbird
  • a file to attach
  1. Step 1

First, you must open Mozilla Thunderbird by clicking on the icon. Once Thunderbird opens, you will be at the Mozilla Thunderbird start screen. You can click on "Inbox" to see your e-mails.

  2. Step 2

Compose a new e-mail to a recipient by clicking on the "Write" button on the toolbar.

  3. Step 3

Once you're writing the e-mail, click the "Attach" button on the new toolbar, select the file, and it's now attached to your email! You can write some text within the e-mail box to describe the attachment, or you can simply send the message as is.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only attach relatively small files; some e-mail servers will reject messages with large attachments
  • The more attachments or the larger the attachments, the more time it takes to send the e-mail.
  • Don't open attachments from anyone you don't personally know! Various computer viruses can be spread that way.
  • Make sure you know what you're sending to the recipient of your message.
