Things You'll Need:
- About ¼ cup of butter
- 1 package of small marshmallows
- 5 to 6 cups of your favorite cereal
- Baking Pan
- Sauce pan
-
Step 1
Begin by melting the butter in a sauce pan on medium. While the butter is melting make sure you constantly stir. This will prevent the butter from burning.
-
Step 2
Once the butter is melted, add in the marshmallows. Remember to keep stirring until the marshmallows are melted.
-
Step 3
Once the marshmallows are melted, remove from heat.
-
Step 4
Quickly add in your cereal and stir until everything is mixed together.
-
Step 5
Place mixture in a buttered pan
-
Step 6
Gently press the mixture in the pan with a spatula or spoon until your mixture is even.
-
Step 7
Allow mixture to cool.
-
Step 8
Once cooled cut into squares and enjoy.
-
Step 9
Don’t be afraid to release your creativity. Add candy such as red-hots, m&m’s or peanut butter. Try adding a little food color for extra fun! Last but not least, try drizzling a little chocolate on top!

on 2/17/2009 Glad you posted the old school version, without the microwave. This will come in handy for people who have misplaced their worn and battered (and butter splattered) copy of the classic rice krispy treat recipe!
